Can you take more pictures of the leaves?

RatherBeRiding · 30/06/2021 16:44

it could be a rowan seedling? I have a tree that has produced a couple of seedlings that look like that and are going to get removed this autumn!

StyleDesperation · 30/06/2021 16:57

Looking at those leaves at the rate it's grown, I'd say ash. They grow fast and get big, I would get it out if you can.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 30/06/2021 16:58

Ash? But not a rowan/mountain ash.

This is my rowan seedling. I tried to find an ash seedling but couldn't, so we must've finally cleared the garden of them, having had a huge tree grow by stealth, near us.

While we're here, talking about trees... what's this? I noticed it in a pot the other day & can't remember why it's there, why the top's cut off etc.

I'd warn next door - the one near us had to come down. It not only shot up to be higher than the house & far too close, but it seeded everywhere, & I'm not talking just one here & there, I mean carpets of seedlings & they're strong right from the off. See if your neighbours will get rid of it.

Orgasmagorical · 30/06/2021 17:12

ifIwerenotanandroid that's a birch.

yamadori · 30/06/2021 17:14

@ifIwerenotanandroid - yours is a birch, most likely a silver birch. You can prune it and keep it in a pot.

ifIwerenotanandroid · 30/06/2021 17:25

Oh, OK. Thanks.

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/06/2021 21:31

@bennyjet. Ash. Not Rowan.
