My dad used crocus and seemed very happy with them.

In my limited experience, plants from Crocus are good quality, but more expensive than with other suppliers - wait for their sales! Frankly, I’ve had very mixed experiences with all the big names and now prefer some of the smaller nurseries - Bluebell Cottage Gardens for perennials, Pepperpot for herbs and Fibrex for pelargoniums.

I haven’t tried them yet but friend who is a keen gardener recommends this company

DO NOT USE Gardening Express

@Snowinsummer

DO NOT USE Gardening Express
Oh why not? I bought 5 plants from them and they would have all survived if I hadn't managed to almost kill one of them myself
didireallysaythat · 27/06/2021 20:44

I've got some great plug plants of eBay - plants from Sarah Raven and Crocus are good but expensive and I find they are over optimistic on how hardy their plants are

Snowinsummer · 27/06/2021 20:46

Lime cross Nursery where really helpful in the spring when I was buying a magnolia. Even sent picture of them so that I could chose & then dispatched 24 hour service & so well packaged. Seriously impressed.

Snowinsummer · 27/06/2021 20:48

Gardening Express sent me dead plants & wrong plants never ever responded. In the end I had to do a chargeback on my credit card to get a refund. Read the reviews online. I think watchdog has even been involved. Unfortunately I didn't know this when I ordered.

DrIrisFenby · 27/06/2021 20:52

I have had some excellent plants this season from Claire Austin - perennials. Of the 50+ plants I ordered (new flower bed!), only two failed and they were replaced no problem.

JaninaDuszejko · 27/06/2021 20:56

When we had a garden designer do our garden she recommended using a local nursery in Yorkshire (RVRogers for those in the north) so the plants would be hardy. We got a load of bare root trees and bushes and they all did fabulously.

whatisthisinhere · 27/06/2021 21:44

I've used Crocus, plants are always excellent. For trees, even though they seen expensive at first glance, I use Barcham trees, the trees are well shaped, and always delivered by their own delivery company so well cared for.

Cosmos123 · 27/06/2021 21:53

Another vote for Crocus here too.

TonTonMacoute · 28/06/2021 11:56

I have also been very pleased with my plants from both Crocus and Sarah Raven, they are expensive but so far have definitely been worth it.

I have also used Hayloft and been happy with the stuff from them, and I have also used Ashridge nurseries and received good service (although not the plants unfortunately, but that was completely not their fault!)

Raaraaboonah · 28/06/2021 12:18

Crocus is really good and the plants come really well protected. I've used J Parkers and have had a pretty good hit rate for keeping everything alive. When 2 of my hebes and all 3 of my gauras died, they replaced them with no quibble.
