I’m looking to get a water butt but not sure what size I need ?
Does 114 litres sound big enough .

Any help appreciated please .

It depends on the size of your garden. I'd generally say go for the biggest one you can and have the space for. I have a fairly large garden and have 2 x 250 litre butts and they still run dry in summer when we have a week or so of no rain.

I like big butts. They are very useful. The bigger the better.

I am jealous, I haven’t got a suitable down pipe for a water butt and would really like one . But the only place I could put it would be outside my sitting room back window as my neighbour seems to have all the ones that come off the roof. Have a look on your local council website, mine does a deal with a company where you get cheap compost bins and water butts, and some water companies do deals too. I did a lot of useless research online before I did the sensible thing of going into the garden and using my eyes!

If you have space for two side by side remember you can get a kit to connect them so they share a downspout, this has been useful for us, as short on run off areas and spouts, I hadn't realised until neighbour mentioned it
