Any idea what this plant / crop is please?

DH feeds the birds in our garden (much bloody more than tuppence a bag, thank you Mary Poppins). Obviously some of the seed gets spilled & we've got plants growing where they've fallen.

The bag does have some info on but we're such townies the only one we can identify for sure is maize.

Does anyone recognise this plant at all, please? Thank you ever so glad - as my nan used to say.

I think those are rapeseed pods. Someone more knowledgeable will probably come along soon though!

I agree with Phlox, looks like rapeseed to me!

You've also got some wheat growing alongside it.

Tell him to feed them linseed if you want some prettier accidental plants. Or sunflowers, of course.
