Galvanised Water Tank

Does anyone have one for collecting rain water? I need to catch rain water coming off the greenhouse but don't have enough room for a water butt. If you do have one, any problems? I'm a bit worried it might just attract mozzies and algae. Thanks!

You’ll have no problem if you can put a lid on it. Algae needs light to grow, mozzies need to be able to get to the water surface to lay their eggs.

I have one. I've made it into a raised pond with a few plants (water mint, reeds, another marginal I can't remember) on a shelf.

I dip a watering can into it to water my tomatoes. It fills with rainwater, and has an overflow that (via a hose) goes into the drain.

No problem (yet) with algae or mozzies. I have a solar fountain that moves the water about, and between that and the rain acting as a streamed water source, it seems to keep itself clear.
