What is this?

This bush has suddenly burst into all these lovely flowers.. Any idea what it is? We inherited it when we moved so just getting to grips with the garden now

Cistus...very pretty as well

A cistus, possibly ladanifer, but there are others with similar markings.

A cistus, but I'm sorry I can't remember the variety, possibly Cistus purpureus 'Alan Fradd' with the pointy leaves.
When they first become popular back in the eighties as a drought resistant plant (and I was living on the south coast at the time) they weren't s'posed to be hardy, but we soon found they were as tough as old boots; mine both survived a nasty cold winter and bitter winds here in Scotland this year.
