We have just moved into a house with a bare patch of grass as a garden and I need some help to try and get some life into it.

It is north facing and clay soil.

Not sure of the exact dimensions but is 6 x 2m fence panels wide - so 12 m and 3x2m panels long so 6m . there are currently no borders dug so will need to do this.

I'd like to get a cherry tree planted if suitable, and maybe some raspberry canes - apart from this open to suggestions. thanks

Draw a plan of the garden, plot where the sun is during the day, morning, noon, afternoon. Although it Is N facing the sun will come from the East in the morning and the West in the afternoon. If you’re not surrounded by buildings you should find that the end of the garden gets some sun.
Then think about how you want to use your garden, possibly having a seating area in the sunniest part. Do you want a play area in the shady area or raised beds for veg?
