Ideas for this corner

Hi - any ideas for this corner? It's a decent size, mostly in shade due to fences and a silver birch to the left. I'd like something that will grow decent size but still reach to prune etc... but preferably that won't go through the fence and hassle the neighbours! Hopefully some silly big flowers too. Thank you!

A nice evergreen fatsia with ferns and hostas maybe. For flowers maybe a hydrangea.

Thank you both! Fatsia Japonica was what a gardener planted there a few years ago. But that was before I 'did' gardening and it didn't survive... might give it another go. Do they get big enough that I could put flowers in front without blocking it out?

A climbing hydrangea would cover the fences nicely and doesn’t mind a bit of shade either. Pretty white flowers and doesn’t need a trellis….

I was going to say fatsia. Love them.

What about a rhodedendron? They prefer shade and grow well under trees, and also have lovely big flowers. If your soil is not acidic there are various ways you can make it more rhody friendly.

I have a clematis called the president growing in full shade on a north facing wall, not sure how it’s doing so well, but it is and has big purple flowers. I also have a buddleja growing well in a shady spot - they seem to grow anywhere.
