Picked it up in the 'sad lonely plants' area at the garden centre, but no label.

No leaves as such, but the green spikes look almost plasticky, but definitely aren't. There's four flower heads of different colours.

Does anyone know what this plant is please?

My plant ID app says portulaca too

Oooh, a plant ID app you say. Off to investigate. Thank you very much for the name.

Beware that plant apps are going purely by matching pictures - they can get it completely wrong, so use the id given as a starting point for further research not as a definitive id.

Ah, ok.

Definitely portucala, I have some looking lovely in a pot. Love them!

@whatswithtodaytoday Do you have a rough idea of height and spread please? I've put them in quite small pots.

Mine have I just been potted up, but the ones I had last year didn't spread much at all. They don't get tall either, the plants pretty much stayed as they were when planted, just spread out a bit and settled within their pot.

If they have enough soil to live on they should be ok - they prefer it dry.
