Does such a thing exist? Bed planning

I have caught the gardening bug majorly and, while I love sowing, planting out etc, I really lack vision when it comes to planning beds so they look put together rather than totally random and mismatched. I also seem to be obsessed with plants that are medium height...

Does a website/book exist with designed plans that I could follow, at least until I get my own sense of what works and creativity? I have a large allotment and am using some of the beds there as my long-awaited flower garden (1st floor flat).

Any ideas?

There are ready made borders at Crocus which are good for inspiration

If your flower garden is for cut flowers I find the Higgledy Seeds website very useful. He has seasonal guides and you can get the seeds from him too.

The Floral Project has similar advice and is quite good.

I have so many books now about planning gardens and they never really tell me I want to know which is what plants shall I plant here!

Second vote for Crocus, or you can get sucked into the vortex of garden design books and magazines.

Whatever you do avoid the 'one of everything' approach - learning how to propagate is invaluable as a cheap way of getting some repetition.

Crocus has absorbed my afternoon! I'm getting the hang of propagating and my mum is an excellent gardener (though lives abroad) so I'm frequently on the phone... off to do some planning I think.

Depends what style you like? If you like New Perennial style then I can recommend Piet Oudolf’s books, he provides example plans with plants marked on them.
