I've not long moved into a house and have an unidentified plant. Can anyone shed any light on what this could be? Dark green, quite leathery leaves. No hint of any flowers or buds as of yet. About 12 inches high.
Many thanks.

? Hellebore

Hellebore. Some have plum flowers some pink some green, some freckled white. Flowers in early spring. Likes good soil with sun when it flowers but can be shaded in high summer.

So it won't flower till next Jan at earliest.

Thank you. That's interesting. I have a couple of hellebores but I didn't recognise this as one as the leaf shape and texture is different. A different type of hellebore I guess. I will get googling to establish the specific type. Thanks again.

If you feel it has the wrong texture for Helleborus, have a look at the Araceae family - arum lilies, voodoo lilies and the like. Some of them have leaves rather like that
