Hello everyone!

Im new to this gardening malarkey and Im seeking some advice.

I was given a couple of tomato plants a couple of weeks back and they seem to be thriving. They`ve been sat on my dining room window ledge, as it is quite sunny there, but I was wondering when I should put them out?

I don`t have a greenhouse or polytunnel, and I think they need to be re-potted into a larger pot, which I can do this evening.

Also when should I start feeding them, although the soil/compost I`ve bought says it feeds for upto 6 weeks.

Any advice will be gratefully received

Ooh, home grown toms are the best. Can go out once all risk of frost has passed, I'm in the south east and put mine out about 2 weeks ago. Plenty of water, feed once flowering. You may have to stake them and pinch out any non-flowering side shoots.

Mine are in a greenhouse, but I have started putting other tender things out now. we are SW.

As for pots, put them in the biggest one you can find, water daily and feed weekly. I use tomorite.

Well, Ive repotted my toms, and theyve started flowering! The one plant has but not the second one .... yet!

Ive also put them outside, just hope that my dog doesnt decide to eat them, as she eats everything!!

Going to pick some tomato feed tomorrow!

I`m so excited at the thought of having grown my own toms!!!!

You need to keep the dog away, I am fairly sure that tomato plants (not the tomatoes) are toxic if eaten
