Looks like pokeweed. If it is be careful as it is toxic.

Tambora · 23/05/2021 18:10

Pokeweed is a weed native to the Americas. If the OP is in the UK it's unlikely to be that.

Proudboomer · 23/05/2021 19:16

It is not common but it is sold in both seed and plant form in the uk. Even chiltern seeds stocks it.

GuyFawkesDay · 23/05/2021 19:19

Is it Kohlrabi?

I had it self seed into my last garden, in Kent.

It's not kohl rabi - wrong leaf and growth form. The leaf isn't quite right for pokeweed either - should be less tapered at the base.

Palma Violatis Maximus

@JellyBabiesFan Would you care to elaborate? Google doesn't throw up any hits for that.

I agree with Proudboomer. It’s phytolacca acinosa, also known as pokeweed, and it’s poisonous. The purple root is a dead giveaway.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 24/05/2021 12:15

My plant app also agrees with @Proudboomer-
says it is pokeweed.

Says unwanted plant growing in competition with other wanted or cultivated plants.

However it is still sold as an ornamental plant and toxicity level decreases in the order of root, leaf, stem and ripe berry.
