Branches appear to be dying. Appreciate any advice. Thank you

I wonder if it lacked water at some stage? I think clip it back to a healthy bud, and keep going. Water it occasionally in hot weather. Not urgent, obviously, with current weather conditions.

It probably suffered when we had the dry spell and frosts.
