Propagating stocks

Today is our wedding anniversary and DH bought me some flowers from M&S. a mix with stocks in. When I opened them up one of the stems had a healthy looking root on it, so I figured it had a 50/50 chance, so I’ve popped it in a pot to see what happens.

Does anyone here grow stocks, do you think it will work. I’ve never grown them myself before as dm was allergic to them so always avoided them so I never really bothered with them but they’re so pretty it’s worth a try isn’t it?

Any advice always welcome.

They are annuals, your rooted one will probably survive, when the flower is finished pinch it off and it will grow more buds. Hopefully.
There is a variety of perennial stocks, I grow them, they last 3-4 years but become leggy and die. By that time I’ve collected seeds and started some more, they’ve a fantastic scent. I got my original plant s from a garden sale, so do know where you’d get one.

It might, but if you wait for them from these flowers they’re unlikely to produce any more flowers, but you never know.
