Any chance these might be HH's

I scattered a liad of seeds at the end of last summer from some plants I had bought from the garden centre, but have a feeling they might just be weeds as the leaves are very small.

My MiL is always telling me how easy they are to grow yet I have no luck with them!

I’m not sure, I don’t have a lot of success with Hollyhocks, so I bought some plants. One flowered last year and seedlings have popped up in gravel and along a wall. I think they like dry almost soilless spots.

Nope.

I've got a couple planted that are coming back and they don't have as many little, eaves as that and the leaves are thicker. I'd wait and see a bit longer but not convinced you've got hollyhocks there.

I'm not sure that they are - the first pair of leaves (cotyledons?) of HH look like squash leaves - very round, with definite nearly parallel line along them and sort of fleshy looking - do you remember what the first leaves looked like, or have any just popping out?

Actually - revising my view, they do look quite like my definite HH seedlings. Pics of mine for ref (nb, they are choked by other plants because they are self set seedlings from my giant mother plant, which will be weeded out in due course because I have as many HH as I need Grin. There are also shameful weeds in view in the pics because my dc have not allowed me time to keep on top of the weeding this spring...)

But these pics also show the cotyledons clearly for ref.
