What are you all using for weedkiller ?
Nothing I buy seems to work now, and I saw on-line you can use white vinegar in a spray.

I use a weed burner

weedburner

I spray the weeds in my block paving with white vinegar and salt mix, but a weed burner would be quicker a d more effective tbh. I don't have one though.

I’m sure I have read — on here! — that vinegar and salt are pretty toxic to lots of good things, so not really a “harmless” alternative to standard chemical weedkillers.

I’m still learning about all this stuff but for anyone planning to try it, worth a bit of research probably.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 16/05/2021 20:34

I don't want anything growing on my block paving driveway though - good or bad. I don't use it or any other weed killer anywhere else in my garden.

IFiredUpTheQuattro · 16/05/2021 20:50

Boiling water. The leaves of the weeds wilt instantly once it hits them, then over a couple of days the rest of it goes.

rosiedeus · 17/05/2021 08:05

I just scrape mine out. But I don't have a big drive

PipsM · 17/05/2021 08:12

Boiling water here too. Seems to work well (& is child, cat and small creature friendly).

DinosaurDiana · 18/07/2021 08:27

I tried the boiling water, and the salt. Both worked initially, but then they grew back.
Might have to try a burner next.

I use an organic fatty acid spray. Works quite well they just die off.

DinosaurDiana · 18/07/2021 09:38

Can you let me know what you use ? Thanks

I use Pathclear (on paving, not on borders).

I know it's a chemical, I know it's bad for the environment, but I use it once in the spring and it keeps my block paving and patio completely weed free for the entire season.

I'm not sure it's any worse than repetitive salt/vinegar/jeyes fluid/burning.

DinosaurDiana · 20/07/2021 06:58

Thanks for that. The salt kills it off initially, but it soon grows back.

I scrape them out too.

the flame thrower works quite well, but you need to be careful that you don't burn the house down more than intended.

weeds will grow back whatever method you chose, that's just what they do. if you want to get rid of them you need to put in work regularly.
