Chives - possibly silly question!

I've a pot of chives from supermarket and also some growing in a pot outside. What's the best way to use them so the chives re-grow?

Is it snip the tips from the whole pot or cut a few longer stems off at the base?

I could do trial and error but just thought I'd ask MN first Smile

i cut whatever i need off at the base. they have always grown back and seed themselves happily in the patio

OK, thanks for that advice. I wonder if everyone does that or if anyone snips the tips and they re-grow that way!

I’m a tip snipper and I’m okay Grin

Either is ok - they grow in the same sort of way as grass. I usually cut from the base just because I find them easier to handle and snip small for use that way.

Mine get picked daily by my two ds’s who like to eat them. They just get grabbed by the handful however they come and they’ve always grown back no problem!
