Need to grass front garden by March. Is it ok to do now? Would it be better to do in spring?

you don't really want it to freeze before it has taken.

Now is fine if you're using turf, but wait till a mild spell is forecast.

If you've got badgers in the garden, don't bother. They rip it up every night. Complete waste of time and money.

Ta for that, so if we do it now and it freezes later it'll be ok????

Yes - as long as it has a week or so of mild weather it shouldn't mind freezing conditions later

make sure you water loads. have you got a sprinkler doodah? or does that still stand in winter??

i gress seeded a couple of weeks ago and am quite surprised at how ell its taken already. have had a few frosts too... i figured id re-seed in spring anyway, but might as well get th ball rolling as seed is cheap...
