Yacon - advice?

I am awaiting a delivery of yacon and wondering whether it will be ok to plant it trough a hole in some weed membrane, or whether it is more of a spreading thing and it would be better to lift the membrane and plant without. Does anyone know?

How will you harvest it if you plant it through a hole?

Good point, although I had imagined I would lift the weed membrane at harvest time. Hmm.

It's a 1m square raised bed so the weed membrane just covers that area and could be lifted easily at harvest.

Internet pictures of yacon suggest it's a fairly compact thing.
