Gaura and Fushia pruning

Would it be ok to prune these perennials back now.Should I prune Gaura back by half or lower.If I cut them back now would a late frost kill them.The Gaura is about two foot high ,it wasn't cut back before winter.Im in Surrey.Thankyou.

I'll be cutting back my fuchsia shortly, back to the base, above a pair of buds.

I think you do the same for gaura, mine took an awful beating this winter.

Thats great.Unfortunately my friend had already cut,well really hacked lots of split ends aswell the fuchshia back to an inch above the ground well below any buds which it had last time I was there,hope it will be OK.I will cut the Gaura back which looks really woody next time.Thankyou.
