What are you planning to use it for? If "to identify plants" then the answer is none - they can make dreadful mistakes without being aware of it, since they're not working from botanical knowledge they're merely pattern matching.

If on the other hand you'll be using it to generate suggestions as to where to start you identification search, and you're prepared to follow it up by reading a description of the plant they suggest, then that's a different matter.

I'm not a serious gardener and it's just to identify nice plants I see. Or weeds

Hi OP I am an inexperienced gardener enjoying PictureThis. I’ve been using it to ID plants when I’m out and about, and also to check whether new leaves in my garden are intentional or not. I especially like that it gives you a poetry extract as well as plant info!

I love PictureThis. Also use Google lens but prefer PictureThis

The point is that the apps still can get it wrong and don’t have the self awareness to let you know they may have made a mistake. The advice to use the Id merely as a starting point still applies.

Whatever id is given, google it. See if it has the same growth form as you plant - I’ve seen an app identify a shrub as a tiny creeper 3 inches high. Check that it grows in your country. Check that it’s right for the time of year - eg your bush in full flower in April is unlikely to be the app’s suggestion of an autumn flowering shrub. Check things like leaf shape. And so on.

The apps are prone to making mistakes. So if you accept that, then it’s fine but don’t rely on it.

You can always post pictures on here if you want help identifying a plant if you’re not sure the app has it right.
