What are these insects?

I keep finding these little bugs in my house around springtime. They appear for a couple months, not loads but i find one maybe 1 every couple days. I have no idea what it is and should I be concerned!

For reference, I don't have pets, windows are always open from the minute I wake up to the time I look to put kids to bed and I have a garden which is 70% grass and flower bedding if that helps!

What are these insects?

I should also say I hang clothes out to dry, not sure if they are hiding in them and then making a nest in my house!!!

It looks like a tic to me. How big are they?

DeathMetalMum · 29/04/2021 19:22

Carpet beetle. I find them when have the windows open. I also only ever find one so don't think it's a problem unless there are multiples.

What do they actually do? I hoover quite regularly and I've never seen them on the floor, always climbing up a wall or by a window/door frame. Not sure if it is a problem and I should be concerned.

I've just googled carpet beetles, it seems open windows most of the day is where they come in and lay eggs.

Right, now how do I get rid!!! Anything safe i can use around kids?

Do you have wool carpets? If yes they will lay eggs and the larve will eat your carpet. If you have synthetic carpet I wouldn’t worry too much.

I think they are synthetic, weren't very expensive! Like o said I only notice them about 2 months around spring time so maybe I will just reduce the amount of time my windows are open and maybe get some nets for the ones that not covered!

I get these occasionally, they’ve never caused a problem for me but I don’t have any soft furnishings or carpets hardly
