I was very lucky today and happened to find this beautiful specimen left out on my street. It's now been rescued and is sitting in my kitchen after some heavy lifting!

Would anyone happen to know what it is so I can provide it with the best care? I think its an Alocasia portodora but would be grateful for confirmation. Thanks

Alocasia?

yamadori · 27/04/2021 14:35

Haha, just read your OP properly - you already know that! They prefer light shade, and moist but not damp soil. Keep out of draughts too.

It's a triffid. Watch your back.

Why would someone abandon him?!

BatonRouge · 27/04/2021 19:30

Great that confirms it then! I really was astonished to find it, abandoned on the pavement. I'll do my upmost to look after it and provide a good home.....just hope it doesn't eat me 😂

He's lovely, but are you sure he was abandoned rather than making a bid for freedom?
