Powdery mildew

Why do I always get powdery mildew on my courgettes? Every single year it starts when they are young, otherwise healthy looking plants.

Any ideas? I think they are well watered and they have plenty of light.

I'm not sure that is powdery mildew. Lots of courgettes and other related veg I've grown has developed white or silvery veining. Unless it's not clear from the photo, powdery mildew normally develops in bloomy dull blotches all over the leaves, and not in the pattern on the leaf in your picture.

That just looks like a normal leaf at the moment, powdery mildew is usually only a problem for me when the plants are bigger.

Ah ok. Thanks for replies. This is how it's started in previous years and then developed more and more white areas across the leaves. I'll keep an eye on it and post again in a few days if it continues - maybe I'm just assuming the worst!

The silver veining is part of the leaf. Powdery mildew starts as little white patches in an irregular pattern. Nothing to do with the vein pattern!

It’s supposed to be the combination of dry roots and damp air/not enough air flow.

I usually start seeing it in august.
