Plant id help please

I thought this was Forsythia but dad says the flowers are wrong! First year in the garden so getting to know what we have. It flowered mid-March and just starting to go over. About 2m tall. Welcome cheer early in the year!

To be more precise, Kerria japonica "Pleniflora" - the double flowered variety.

Do you think it’d take an annual summer climber through it, like cobea scandens or ipomoea lobata? I think after it’s done flowering it’s fairly uneventful the rest of the year.

I don’t see why it shouldn’t be able to support a lightweight climber.

I'm not sure the stems are strong enough to support a climber personally.
I tend to prune mine after flowering also, and that might be tricky with a climber involved.
