Has anyone successfully removed bamboo?

Husband and I have had an offer on a dream house accepted, however I just noticed that the plant the owners have had growing just outside the living room window (!!!) is bamboo. It's very close to the house, no more than about two feet away. Has anyone successfully eradicated bamboo from their garden, or is it just completely impossible without throwing away tens of thousands of pounds? TIA

Iv just dug out a huge clump , if it does start to grow back ( no sign as yet) I’ll be on it !! It did leave a bit of a crater , and was heavy ... but did it in an hour or so .... good luck 🤞

Just had this conversation on this thread

It will work as it kills anything but you can’t replant for a good few months until it naturally disperses from the soil.

I have one bamboo fargesia in a corner of my garden. It's supposed to be non invasive. Should I be worried? It's about a foot from the boundary wall. Would hate it to start appearing in neighbours land. It's been in about 5 years and new shoots have only appeared close to the clump.

Dh removed ours. He used what I think is called a drain shovel, and with a particularly stubborn one he had to dig as much as he could and then flood the roots. But absolutely doable and lots of excersise Grin.
