Re-directing sunlight to plants in deep shade

Has anyone ever tried and had any success with re-directing sunlight with garden mirrors? We have a horrible shaded north corner which gets zero sunlight. It has a Cornus and a Salix willow which amazingly have both started producing buds and leaves even with no sun but I'm worried they won't survive. I had a sudden eureka moment when I thought what about a garden mirror so I got the upstairs mirror and tried to.angle the sun on to the plants and it worked for one but not the other. I'm not going to risk leaving the mirror there for long in case they burn but the sun soon moves off anyway.
It would be interesting to hear of anyone's experiences out there. Thanks.

Plants that like shade would be a better bet imho.

Surely you'd have to be moving the mirror every few minutes? I agree with Jackie - right planting the right place.

Thanks @IstandwithJackieWeaver
I was told these two I've planted should be fine so we'll see. Sometimes sun can be damaging so they might be better off. At least it's not completely dark!
