Lemon Cypress Trees

Hi

I am wanting to plant some lemon cypress trees close to our house and wondered if anyone knew if they were deemed 'safe' to plant as in will the roots mess with building foundations etc???

I just want something that won't grow to a huge height and be low maintenance but will just look pretty and isn't hugely expensive so if anyone has any recommendations I'm up for suggestions!!
