I can’t for the life of me remember what I’ve put where last year.

I initially thought dahlia but now I’m thinking it might be a clematis that arrived looking very dead from a mail order company but I may have just shoved in a random pot just in case.

It does look as though it is a clematis to me - I bought a small one recently and it looks like it.

GuyFawkesDay · 05/04/2021 16:55

Yes it does look like a clematis baby!

Hmm, clematis leaves are usually divided, often almost frondy)fern like. Looks a bit like honeysuckle to me?

Thank you 😊 I know what you mean @candycane222 but I can work out how a clematis may have got into that pot, if it’s a honeysuckle it’s jolly clever.

The thing is if it’s the clematis i complained to the company and they are due to send a new one next month, we’ve had multiple conversations about this over 6 months. Coming clean will be a little embarrassing but I am honest at heart 😂

Well if it turns out they've sent a honeysuckle, you're still due a clematis so its all good!

This is true 😂

It's got the wrong vein pattern for honeysuckle I think. Looks right for clematis. First leaves on young shoots are often different from more mature leaves.

billybagpuss · 06/04/2021 12:11

Well I've plonked it in the ground where I was originally going to put the clematis that arrived apparently dead last September. If its a honeysuckle its going to swamp the poor rose next to it. I'll update with a picture in a couple of months time Grin

Looks like a clematis resurrection to me - I’ve had a couple which have come back long after I thought they’d expired.

GuyFawkesDay · 06/04/2021 14:45

I've got one that's reappeared after a year of nothing. We had garden relandscaped late 2019, and loads was dug up, including the clematis. Definitely I spent yonks digging a rather help Montana out.

And where the other one was once located this year I appear to have a baby Clem. It's bigger than yours, about 12-18 inches high so definitely identifiable. Looks more like my Nelly Moser than the Montana which is great as I will train it back up the fence!!
