Plant to hedge front garden??

Hello ladies can anyone help? I have an average sized front garden, lawn with a cherry tree in it, it has a border running around the edge which backs onto a low white picket fence. I am looking for inspiration as it has only had bedding plants in it up to now. Neighbours have used lavenders and Hebes. Ideally would like somehing that isn't going to take years to mature, flowers in summer and is evergreen.

Any advice?

Would buddleia be too big? or Mallow?

I think both or mallow would be too big, I have each of these at the rear of the house. It is actually quite a small border approx 2 ft and any plant much higher than waist height might look odd??

Please feel free to contradict me if you feel something bigger would sit well.

Waist height - Hmm privet? Little fir trees? Box? Heather?

here are some hedging plants from crocus.

You could always add a flowering climber like a clematis through an evergreen hedge.

Fuschia might be nice, but wouldn't be evergreen.

We are just in the throws of ordering privet. Apparently end of Nov is a good time as we are using bare root plants. As we are ordering so many they are only working out to be 90p each and the plant will be 2 - 3 ft tall. With a privet hedge, you have a choice on how tall you would like it. I think privet hedges look nice esp if they are kept well!
