Anybody fancy having a go at identifying these plants? My Mam got them given last summer when they were smaller but they didn't flower last year. The leaves are smooth and velvety, almost like down.

Thanks very much!

Are the green Lambs Ears

DisappointedOfNorfolk · 30/03/2021 16:22

Is it Lychnis Coronaria, common name Rose Campion? Has tall pink/red/white flowers in summer I think Smile.

CatherinedeBourgh · 30/03/2021 16:24

I think lychnis too

CarrieMoonbeams · 30/03/2021 16:32

I was coming in to say Lambs' Lugs (Stachys Byzantina) too, DogsSausages.

MereDintofPandiculation · 30/03/2021 18:20

I would say either Lychnis coronaria or perennial cornflower Centaurea montana.

MrsBertBibby · 30/03/2021 23:28

I was going to say centaurea Montana. I got one last spring from RHS that they refunded me for, it looked so dreadful. I repotted it on the off chance, it perked up a little so I planted it out, and I am very much hoping for flowers this year. It's this one

Thanks everyone! I'm still no further forward, I've looked at everything suggested and I feel like it could be any of them Blush. Looks like I'll just have to wait and see if any flowers appear this year.

Do the leaves all seem to come outfrom the same place at the base?

blindmansbluff · 31/03/2021 18:07

There's actually 3 plants in there, I'm going to have to move them as the pot's too small but the leaves come from each individual plant. They didn't die off over winter either despite several coatings of snow

If the leaves are silvery I would say lychnis coronaria, it will have really lovely hot pink flowers in the summer.

If the leaves don’t have a silver hue my guess would be perennial cornflower; centaurea Montana

CatherinedeBourgh · 31/03/2021 18:45

Then I’m sicking with lychnis, lambks ears are much more spreading ime.

MrsBertBibby · 31/03/2021 20:08

This is my lychnis coronaria. Sometimes the flowers are white.
