Hi
I've had an idea about a 50th wedding anniversary present - but will it work?

I thought about buying a large wooden rectangular plant trough and filling it will different bulbs that grow in different times if the year - perhaps all golden flowers or their favourites but to not tell them, so they have a year of watching to see what's growing - some thoughts below...

So thought daffs, snow drops/bells and crocuses - in spring
Tulips and fritillary
Iris
Glads
Autumn ideas?

Anything else that are bulbs so will be secret til they start growing so it's a surprise
Thank you ☺️

Anything else that are bulbs so will be secret til they start growing so it's a surprise Are they gardeners? I would recognise bulbs as soon as the leaves come through, so I'd know what was going to flower. If their not gardeners, then you could extend beyond bulbs because they wouldn't recognise the plant till it flowered.

Agree with Mere - are they gardeners? I have been given beautiful plants, garden vouchers, bulbs, trees, shrubs etc over the years but I am absolutely not a gardener and not at all interested in looking after plants or even knowing what to do with them so presents like that are a bit of a chore for me.

Yes they're avid gardeners, lots of space on the driveway garden abd patio

It doesn't matter if they know what's coming once it arrives I was just thinking of the surprise plants arriving through the season
