Looking for recommendations please. In the past whatever I’ve tried, the rain gets in and they only last a few months!

You need to look for lights with IP65 rating which means they are water resistant enough to withstand rain and snow though not full immersion in water. Just add ip65 on to the end of the search string for whatever type of light you're looking for.
