Front door pots & bamboo in tiny pots - ideas welcome!

Hello folks. I am attempting to get on top of the garden and thought I’d start at the front door! The space is about 30cm wide each side so not big. I was thinking bay trees but can’t decide on a pot. I quite like the idea of milk churns but can’t find pics online so am guessing that won’t work? Would like something traditional as it’s an old house. Does anyone have some recommendations of either plants, pots or both?

In another spot, I’d quite like to put some bamboo in pots. Again, a bit tight for space because of access door etc. Can I put bamboo in a 30cm wide pot or will it be too squashed?

Any thoughts would be very helpful. I am not really a gardener (in case it wasn’t obvious!) but am trying to make an effort this year! Thank you v much.

Bamboo will not be happy for long in such a small pot. They quickly become pot bound.
Square faux zinc look pots are attractive, you could put something like a hebe or a Skimmia in them. Both plants are evergreen and are happy in pots.
