Filling a planter with trellis attached.

I've just bought a planter with trellis up the back to help disguise a Wheely bin at the front of my house.

The planter is 60cm x 40cm. The trellis is 120cm. So not very big as it's a small space.

I think I'd like some sort of evergreen as its purpose is to act as a screen. The big problem is that it's north facing shade 😳😭 so I don't think there is much that would be happy there.

I was looking at pictures of evergreen climbing hydrangea but thinking that this probably is for covering a huge space? Or can they be kept small?

I was also looking at pyracanthas. But they look very thorny which kind of puts me off.

I would love some ideas as I'm new to gardening and a bit hit and miss with previous projects 😃
