We have a south facing garden and our grass is terrible! It's all patchy, there's one area where it's lovely but the rest patches of soil underneath just show through and it's awful. Our neighbours is similar - we think when the lawn was laid 8 years ago (new build) we got the runt of the litter in terms of lawn. It also used to grow huge nettles and weeds out of it. Last summer I used weed and feed and thankfully all of the weeds seem to have disappeared, but I'm wondering what I can do to make the grass grow nicely again and hide the patches? Tried grass seed and that didn't even touch it. Really don't want to re-Lawn it as we are hoping to move next year. Thanks in advance Smile

The good news is that nettles grow on fertile soil, so any new grass should do well. Is seeding didn’t work try cutting bald patches out and repairing with turf.

If you reseed I think you would need to rake the patch first, rake the seeds in a bit (to stop the bids picking them off) and then water every day until established.
