Is my cortaderia dead?

I bought and planted a cortaderia Sellano pumila late last summer and planted it. I'm really unsure if it's dead. I can't see any green on it at all. Will it come?

It might sprout, I'd cut it right back and wait. If nothing happens in the next month it's dead.

They are really really hard to kill. Give it time.
