Hi I have a lovely wicker basket which I would like to use as an outdoor planter it's quite large and is lined with polythene which I can put some drainage holes in but can anyone tell me what might be a good idea to put in it
It belonged to someone close to me so would like to plant something long lasting maybe a little shrub or mini lollipop tree
It will be going in a south facing garden
TIA!

Wicker is not weather hardy, it will eventually break down. If it’s really precious to you, I’d think about putting an indoor plant into it.

Or, if it’s really large enough, put a plant in a plastic pot in it and then bring the basket in for the winter.

That's a great idea I would really like to have it outside at least for summer but yes I could put a big plastic pot inside to lift out in winter
Thanks!

Any recommendations for something that will be evergreen and grow in a pot?

A Fatsia Japonica would look fab in the basket. Hardy and easy to look after.

Well Rosemary is planted for remembrance so that would be ideal. I think it really suits wicker.
