can I put a shed on decking?

We want to get a new shed to replace the one that's falling down on the right hand side of the photo. I want to increase the length of the border (not visible on photo) to include the area under the current shed.

Is there any reason why we can't just put the new shed on the decking (which we don't really use anyway)? I'm thinking that way we wouldn't need to bother with a proper shed base?

Well we just did exactly that, just lots of reinforcement underneath

Extra cross beams underneath the deck boards

Your decking will be supported by beams running at right angles to the decking boards. So the sides of your shed that are parallel to the decking beams will also be supported by those beams. It's the other two sides where you need to concentrate your support. Remember it's not just the weight of the shed, you will probably start hanging tools from the walls.
