Has anyone got a weed burner?

I've got quite a big garden and the weeds have got a hold on it over the past couple of years. I don't want to plonk a load of weed killer on it as we've got young dds, pets and lots of visiting wildlife and insects. I wondered whether weed burners are any good? Or whether anyone can recommend anything better?

I've dug out and re-seeded grass/planted new plants on the worst areas, but the lawns are all full of dandelions. I really don't want to dig them all out individually as I think we'll end up with millions of holes.

I had one some years ago, It was fantastic fun but a bit useless

My MIL successfully set fire to her hedge with one, resulting in an eventful afternoon with the Fire BrigadeGrin

We haven't stopped laughing since!

I didn't see this was in gardening and was thinking this is a new type of bong!

I've got something like this which is quite handy. It does leave holes in the lawn but I just treat it as super-aeration and fill in with better quality soil.Grin

I have one. I use it for getting rid of weeds in the block paving.
I’d be wary of using it on a lawn.

We bought one to try and keep down the weeds on the gravel drive. Useless. Quite good for creme brulé

Laughing my head off at the thought of the fire brigade turning up! And then having to explain it wasn't that type of weed anyone had been trying to burn.

Thanks for the advice. Senua the weed puller looks good. Is it kind of like a litter picker but for weeds? It looks like it goes quite far into the ground.

pursuedbyablackdog I did wonder whether they had another name when i posted for this reason but hoped it being in gardening would give the game away!
