We moved into a new house in December and the only border is filled with this. There's loads of it, can anyone tell me what it is please?

Looks like crocosmia- very pretty

Thefirsttime · 14/03/2021 13:10

Pretty sure it is not crocosmia.

I can’t think what it is called, but it has pale yellow bell shaped flowers on it and it seeds itself everywhere. Fortunately the roots are very shallow and it is easy to pull up.

Crocosmia dies back in winter. It could be wild iris or red hot poker.

Thefirsttime · 14/03/2021 13:16

I’m pretty sure it is sisyrinchium striatum.

There's a free app I use called Plantsnap, you can take pics of the plant and it helps identify. Maybe useful

Yes, could be. That has the same flattened shoots as Iris, the greyish colour that you can see in the photo, and masses of leaves like this one.

Trouble with plant apps is all they do is look through masses of photos for a match (just like you would, but a lot faster), but they don’t have the intelligence to know when they’ve got it completely wrong. OK as a starting point, but never rely on what they say.

It's sisyrinchium- spreads a lot. Small yellow flowers on a spike
