Best surface for under a swing set

We have a swing set that is currently on lawn on heavy clay soil. It is unusable in the winter as it just turns to mud. I am thinking of replacing the lawn under the swing area. Which of the following options do people think would work best?

A) Bark chips - cheap but would presumably need topping up and get moved under swing
B) Rubber chips - more expensive but would not rot. Would still get displaced
C) Rubber mat that lawn grows through - might sink into the clay?
D) Artificial grass - expensive and not great for the environment

Any ideas? I am erring towards the mat. Has anyone used this?

D wouldn’t be good to fall on. NDN had rubber chips and they didn’t seem to move. They’re a lot heavier than bark. Bark would be easier to remove once the swing wasn’t needed any more, and would have improved the soil

I'd go with bark chips

Grasscrete? Wood chips need topping
