Priming roses right back?

DM has just pruned her roses right back, including all the new growth, which I would have left.

Will they still flower this year?

I reckon :). Roses are tough, they like a good prune.

Phew! I don't think she could see what she was doing and as her life has been so dull this year I really hope she gets some lovely roses -fingers crossed!
