Can anyone recommend a basic gardening course?

Finally freeing up some time from the kids, and realising we have a lovely garden to work on. But my gardening knowledge is limited - anyone recommend a good online course (I don't mind paying) or even an audio book on basic gardening ?

Look at the RHS website. The tabs at the top of this page give beginners guides to all sorts of topics
www.rhs.org.uk/advice/beginners-guide

They also do a good "Encyclopedia of gardening", and a series of booklets on different topics. Hessayon guides are well thought of too, but may be getting a bit dated, with less emphasis on care of the environment that we would want today.

Doesn't satisfy the audio requirement, and I'm afraid that so much of gardening is visual - hard to give more than an outline of pruning without resorting to diagrams.

Downside of a course is that you will learn about things you are not interested in as well as things you are interested in.
