Please can anyone can anyone recommend a fast growing (preferably) not too invasive, (as don’t want to create a nuisance) evergreen climber that loves shade and dampness... Hmm

Thanks in advance

I had a Virginia Creeper growing up the back of my house-north facing. It looked spectacular when it went red. It grew really, really quickly-I was hacking it back weekly at one point.

fast growing normally means it will become invasive. you don't get one without the other.

ivy will grow anywhere - small leaf variety should be less invasive.

i've got winter jasmine growing in shade and a Garrya Elliptica that seems to be doing OK with part-sun.

Whoops! Just realised that you asked for evergreen-Virginia Creeper isn’t! Ivy and climbing hydrangea both do well in the shade.

@parietal is right though; fast growing normally means invasive. My Virginia creeper was truly beautiful in the autumn but I wasn’t sad when we eventually got rid.

Thanks for the advice - that’s a shame, I don’t really have time to tend to it that much, I wouldn’t want it to get out of control.
Honeysuckle? Hmm is that even evergreen Grin we don’t get much light so was hoping for something to brighten the area up.

Evergreen clematis Armandii- if you Google it you can see it has lovely flowers. I’ve put it on a dark, damp section of wall, which is in almost permanent shade and it has still grown very quickly. You might need to put a couple of wires up for it to cling on to.

That looks pretty bluebutterfly36 thank you

we have an evergreen clematis Armandii - it has grown 8m up the neighbours trees! So do be careful with it.

there is an evergreen honeysuckle. not sure how well it copes with shade.

I definitely would not want it climbing over to my neighbour. Though his garden is so overgrown doubt he would notice!

Watching with interest, I was about to start a thread on the same topic! I have a 6 ft fence that needs covering but live near a floodplain so very high water table. Trying to find a climber that won't take over my (small) garden but also doesn't mind permanent wet feet. Best bet so far seems to be climbing hydrangea but that can scale a house so think it would make quick work of my fence!
