I did know but haven't written it down and can't flipping remember. Looks a bit like osmanthus but is pink.

It isn't. I do have various lonicera and it isn't that.

I seem to remember it began with an a. It's a shrub, around 2ft high with a similar spread. Pretty fast grower. Really hardy.

I think you're right. It's abelia so a sort of honeysuckle after all!

Quite possibly a daphne x burkwoodii.
