Gaura Lindheimeri - cut it back?

Hi, my Gaura flowered beautifully last summer but has not died back over the winter (i guess as it's been relatively mild?) Should I cut it back now do you think? and should I just cut the old flower stems off or cut the whole thing back to the ground? Not sure what to do and getting conflicting advice from google!

I am waiting for it to be warmer, and for it to start sprouting before I cut mine back. I think that is what I did last year and it was fine.

Probably completely wrong though!
