I have sandstone patios in my garden and we’re currently extending and having to replace some sections.
Dh doesn’t like sandstone because he feels it's hard to clean and weathers badly. He is suggesting oatmeal granite as an alternative.
And I’m wondering if anyone has experience with it.
It looks a bit too neat and polished for my taste, but tbf that’s exactly what attracts dh who feels he was missold sandstone on the basis of neat, clean pictures.
Our garden has sections of strong sun, where the sandstone looks great, and sections of shade where it’s got some algae. We didn’t know a lot about treating and protecting the stone and had to learn as we went along.
How does granite hold up over time?
Is it slippy in the wet?
Do you think it can marry in with the sandstone in time or will it always stick out?
