How do you stop things eating it...?

Tried to grow wild rocket, sorrel, Swiss chard, brocolli, mustard green, kale and beetroot last year but slugs ate pretty much all of them and baby cabbage white butterflies got the rest!

I’d like to try again this year but there’s not much point if I can’t harvest anything, in that case I’d rather have flowers.

What is the secret?

Everything is already in large pots off the ground and ideally I wanted to grow organic so no slug pellets etc

I keep the greenhouse slug-free and start things off in there, planting them out when they're about 6 inches high. Also, don't over-feed when small, grow them tough. Slugs like their food tender. Nets to keep butterflies off, or inspect daily for eggs and squash them. You also have to keep pigeons off - I'd suspect it was pigeons rather than slugs that got your kale.
